Akasa Air Pilots Receive Salary Hike Again in 2 Months
In response to the country’s rising need for captains of Boeing 737 aircraft, Akasa Air has increased pilot salaries for the second time in two months. In light of recent pilot resignations, the most recent adjustment, which combines monthly loyalty rewards of INR 1,00,000 and long-term incentives of INR 25,00,000, was made.
The long-term incentive will be paid in three installments (15,25, and 60%) over two years, from 2024 to 2026, and will be paid out monthly in addition to the base pay for 40 hours.
According to the report’s citation of Akasa CEO Vinay Dube, “We have a 10 year strategy that spans pilot recruiting, training, and career enhancements. Due to resignations, there is no long-term effect, and we are still quite optimistic about the future. We are planners, therefore we prepare for unexpected events. You must consider our track record. We perform best in terms of on-time arrival and lowest cancellation rates.
The compensation for the cockpit crew at Akasa Air has also increased in the past. The airline raised the average pay for its pilots by 60% within a few weeks after it began operations in September 2022. With that action last year, Akasa made a statement that propelled it to the top of the pay scale among Indian airlines, topping even seasoned competitors like IndiGo. The airline raised the starting monthly salary for senior first officers and senior captains by up to 40% in June of this year, with INR 3,40,000 and INR 6,25,000 respectively.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced plans to resume flights to Europe starting in January, beginning with Paris as its first destination.
The decision follows the European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s (EASA) removal of a long-standing ban on the airline. PIA’s inaugural flight to Paris is scheduled for January 10, with bookings opening on December 9.
DOT Proposes New Passenger Compensation Rules for Flight Disruptions
In an official statement, PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan confirmed that the first flight schedule has been approved, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s recovery efforts. The EU ban had previously cost PIA approximately Rs40 billion ($144 million) annually in lost revenue, compounding its financial struggles.
With European operations restarting, PIA is now setting its sights on the United Kingdom. The airline plans to seek approval from the UK Department for Transport (DfT) to resume flights to major British cities such as London, Manchester, and Birmingham.
