China Airlines boosts flights to Brisbane, Auckland
The airline now operates three weekly flights between Taipei and Brisbane
By increasing the number of flights China Airlines of Taiwan operates from Taipei and Auckland to Brisbane, Queensland’s Attracting Aviation Investment Fund will bring more tourists to the Sunshine State.
The airline now operates three weekly flights between Taipei and Brisbane. Starting on January 1st, there will be 5 weekly services. In addition, starting in the new year, there will be an increase in the number of flights between Brisbane and Auckland from three per week to five.
“More flights from Taipei will bring 159,600 seats to Brisbane, $99 million in overnight tourist expenditure, and support for up to 960 good Queensland jobs.
In 2023, China Airlines will celebrate 20 years of flights to Brisbane. “Queensland is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Taiwan and has the largest Taiwanese community in Australia. With the Taiwan government opening up its border, China Airlines is ramping up to five flights weekly from January 2023. This will provide Queenslanders with an easy connection to nearly 150 cities around the world, including Asia, Europe and North America,” according to China Airlines’ Brisbane General Manager, Jonathan Shih.

PIA Reinstates Manchester and Paris Routes After EU Ban Lift
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced plans to resume flights to Europe starting in January, beginning with Paris as its first destination.
The decision follows the European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s (EASA) removal of a long-standing ban on the airline. PIA’s inaugural flight to Paris is scheduled for January 10, with bookings opening on December 9.
DOT Proposes New Passenger Compensation Rules for Flight Disruptions
In an official statement, PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan confirmed that the first flight schedule has been approved, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s recovery efforts. The EU ban had previously cost PIA approximately Rs40 billion ($144 million) annually in lost revenue, compounding its financial struggles.
With European operations restarting, PIA is now setting its sights on the United Kingdom. The airline plans to seek approval from the UK Department for Transport (DfT) to resume flights to major British cities such as London, Manchester, and Birmingham.
