IndiGo and KLM Partner to Open 30 New European Routes

IndiGo, one of India’s leading airlines, has announced a new initiative designed to enhance the travel experience for female passengers.

This new feature, which was reported by the Times of India (TOI), allows women to see which seats have been pre-booked by other female flyers during the web check-in process. This development aims to empower women by enabling them to select their seats accordingly, potentially increasing their sense of safety and comfort during flights.

According to a statement from the airline, this initiative is the result of extensive market research aimed at making travel more comfortable for female passengers. The feature is currently in its pilot phase and aligns with IndiGo’s #GirlPower ethos. The airline expressed pride in introducing this feature, highlighting its commitment to providing an unparalleled travel experience for all passengers.

“We are committed to providing an unparalleled travel experience for all our passengers, and this new feature is just one of the many steps we are taking towards achieving that goal,” IndiGo stated. The primary objective of this innovation is to empower female travelers, particularly those flying solo, as well as those traveling as part of family bookings.

This initiative comes in the wake of an incident earlier this month when an IndiGo flight had to return to the terminal at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai. The return was necessitated by the discovery of an additional passenger standing inside the aircraft due to all seats being occupied. The aircraft subsequently returned to the bay, and the extra passenger disembarked before the flight resumed its journey.

By introducing this new feature, IndiGo aims to enhance the comfort and security of its female passengers, reinforcing its commitment to a safer and more enjoyable travel experience.
