India Unveils AMCA Execution Model to Boost Indigenous Fighter Jet Development

In a landmark move to bolster India’s self-reliance in defence and accelerate the growth of a domestic aerospace ecosystem, the Ministry of Defence has unveiled a strategic execution model for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme.

Approved by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, this model marks a significant step towards realizing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat in the aerospace sector.

The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), under the Ministry of Defence, will lead the execution of the amca 6th generation jet engine deal programme in close collaboration with the Indian industry. This innovative model encourages industry participation by offering equal opportunities to both public and private sector players on a competitive basis.

Companies can submit bids independently, form joint ventures, or collaborate as consortia — provided they are Indian entities compliant with all applicable national laws and regulations.

The aim is to leverage and integrate indigenous expertise, capacity, and capability to design, develop, and manufacture the amca prototype — a crucial milestone in India’s journey towards developing a fifth-generation stealth multirole fighter aircraft.

This public-private partnership model is expected to foster innovation, accelerate timelines, and enhance India’s competence in cutting-edge aerospace technologies.

To initiate this process, ADA will soon issue an Expression of Interest (EoI) inviting potential industry partners to participate in the Development Phase of the amca engine project. This move underscores the government’s commitment to creating a vibrant defence manufacturing ecosystem and elevating India’s status as a global aerospace power.
