Embraer and Brazil’s WTO Entry Signals Boost for Aircraft Trade
Embraer welcomes Brazil’s accession to the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) Agreement on Trade in Civil Aircraft (TCA).
At a meeting in Geneva, the Brazilian government, which had applied to join the civil aircraft pact in 2022, announced that the 33 member nations had approved its entry.
The signing was formally celebrated at a ceremony at the WTO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. “The agreement’s accession by Brazil is a significant step forward for the country’s international trade.
Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer, says that the nation will now participate in a significant forum for the discussion of regulations governing the trade of civil aircraft between the major nations involved in the industry.
As it sets regulations for the international trade of civil aircraft, the TCA will benefit Brazilian aerospace companies by increasing market access predictability and legal certainty.
In order to prevent tariff barriers from being imposed on imports in the aviation sector between the signatory countries, the agreement also eliminates all import duties on aircraft, their parts, and components.
