Changi Airport launches baggage tracker for passengers

In an effort to reduce travel-related stress, Changi Airport in Singapore recently introduced a bag-tracking service. The luggage tracker, which is accessible through their iChangi mobile app, provides status information for travellers when they depart, arrive, or change terminals at the airport.

The function is only offered to travellers departing or transferring from Changi Airport on one of 35 participating airlines, including Singapore Airlines, Finnair, Jetstar Asia, and Air India.

Passengers arriving on these airlines at Changi’s terminals 2 and 3 will be able to utilize the tracker as well. Arrival baggage tracking will be deployed at terminals 1 and 4 by early 2023, with the number of airlines on board expected to grow over time.

The airport stated on its website that the “iChangi Baggage Tracker” uses a combination of data from the airline you fly with and its own baggage system to show you the path your bags took through Changi Airport.

Step 1: Scan Your Bag Tag on iChangi app

Simply scan or enter bag tag number into the Baggage Tracker using the iChangi app. You can find your bag tag number on baggage sticker issued at point of checking in.

Step 2: Start Tracking Your Check-in Bags!

Turn on your notifications and iChangi app will keep you updated on the journey of your bag(s)! Enjoy a worry-free trip as we keep you updated on your baggage status.

The baggage tracking function depends on whether you are departing, arriving or transiting at Changi, with the following abilities:

  • Departing from Changi: You will be able to track your bags from the point of check-in to the point of loading onto the aircraft.
  • Arriving at Changi: You will be able to track your bags from the point of check-in at your origin airport to the point of delivery to the baggage belt at Changi Airport.
  • Transiting through Changi: You will be able to track your bags from the point of check-in at your origin airport, through to their arrival in Changi Airport, and to the point of loading onto the aircraft for departure, if both origin and destination flights are operated by participating airlines.
