China Eastern Airlines, the world’s first launch client, received the first C919 aircraft, with registration number B-919A, on December 9.

The C919 is China’s first homegrown large passenger aircraft in accordance with international airworthiness standards, and owns independent intellectual property rights. It features advanced aerodynamic design, propulsion system and materials, as well as lower carbon emission and higher fuel efficiency.

A pattern of a Chinese seal reading “world’s first C919” in Chinese is printed in the front part of the plane delivered. The aircraft adopts a 164-seat configuration that comes with a two-class cabin layout, including 8 business class seats and 156 economy class ones. In the economy cabin, the middle seat in each three-seat row is 1.5 cm wider than its neighboring ones, which offers more comfortableness.

With an aisle height of 2.25 meters, the plane comes with an efficient air filtration system, a passenger-centric lighting system and low noise. Besides, there are twenty 12” drop-down screens that can play 1080P videos.

On the day of the delivery, a maiden flight of the C919 aircraft was made by three senior CEA pilots from the Shanghai Pudong International Airport to the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. After arriving at the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and passing through a water gate, the aircraft was officially commissioned into the fleet of CEA.

It is expected to be put into commercial use in the spring of 2023. CEA, as the world’s first airline operator for C919, boasts a fleet of nearly 800 airplanes. It has rich operational experience and enjoys comprehensive advantages. Passengers will soon be able to catch an early experience of the superior and reliable performance of the C919 with CEA.

Qantas Announces New Non-Stop Direct Flights from Perth to Paris

Qantas has launched new direct flights between Perth and Paris, reconnecting Australia and France for the first time in 20 years.

This new route reduces the travel time between the two cities by approximately three hours and stands as the longest non-stop flight to France globally.

Initially, the flights will operate four times per week during the busy European summer and the Olympic and Paralympic periods, before scaling down to three services per week from mid-August. This new service will provide an additional 75,000 seats between Australia and Europe annually.

Perth will serve as the gateway to Paris for travelers from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and other major Australian cities. French tourists will also benefit from seamless connections to over 60 destinations across Australia, allowing them to explore the country’s natural wonders.

The flights will be operated using Qantas’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which is designed for long-haul travel. Passengers will enjoy large windows, high cabin humidity, and mood lighting to help them feel refreshed upon arrival.

To celebrate the new Paris route, Qantas has introduced several customer initiatives. These include limited edition Martin Grant-designed pyjamas with matching amenity kits and Neil Perry-curated menus for the Business cabin, featuring classic French dishes like Bouillabaisse of snapper and Skull Island prawns and a French 75 cocktail.

This route launch follows a significant agreement between Qantas and Perth Airport, aiming to expand the airline’s western hub. This agreement, along with the Group’s fleet renewal program, is set to add 4.4 million additional seats to and from Perth by 2031.
