Robinson Helicopter Unveils the Highly Anticipated R88 at Verticon Expo in Dallas

Robinson Helicopter has officially unveiled the R88, its most anticipated helicopter, at the Verticon Helicopter Expo in Dallas. This new model is designed to carry up to eight passengers and two crew members, marking a significant expansion in Robinson’s lineup.

The R88 retains the classic Robinson aerodynamic structure but features a larger cabin volume and an enhanced design tailored for high-capacity operations.

Powered by a Safran Arriel 2W turboshaft engine, the helicopter utilizes a two-bladed main rotor system, maintaining the signature Robinson efficiency while accommodating a larger payload.

Key features of the R88 include:

• Open-tail rotor design and a two-bladed main rotor system
• Advanced LED exterior lighting (pulsed landing and taxi lights, tail rotor lighting, scene lighting, and entry lights)
• Dual hydraulic system for pitch and roll control, ensuring smooth and responsive flight handling
• Enhanced safety features such as an inlet barrier filter and impact-resistant windshields

With an internal payload capacity exceeding 2,800 lbs. and a range of over 350 nautical miles, the R88 is built for both passenger and cargo operations.

Its 275-ft³ cabin offers multiple reconfigurable seating layouts, large sliding side doors, and a truck-bed-style rear door for easier cargo and stretcher loading.

The cockpit introduces dual cyclic controls, allowing the pilot to sit in either the left or right seat, with removable controls for flexibility. Additionally, the R88 will be type-certified for optional single-pilot IFR operations, making it a versatile choice for various missions.
