Paris Air Show 2025 – Day 3: Airbus and Embraer Dominate Amid Boeing’s Silence
Day 3 of the Paris Air Show 2025, held at Le Bourget Airport from June 16 to 22, saw major developments across both commercial and military aviation sectors. The spotlight remained firmly on Airbus and Embraer, while Boeing notably failed to secure any new orders.
Airbus Leads the Commercial Orders
Airbus continued its strong performance at the show, particularly in the wide-body aircraft segment. Key highlights include:
- Starlux Airlines (Taiwan) placed an order for 10 additional Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, adding to its existing fleet of 10 A350-900s.
- MNAG Airlines (Turkey) signed a Memorandum of Understanding for two Airbus A350 freighters, reinforcing the Airbus next-generation freighter program.
- EgyptAir confirmed an order for six Airbus A350-900 jets to support its fleet expansion strategy.
With these and other deals, Airbus reached a total of 148 firm orders valued at $14.2 billion USD, alongside 102 provisional orders worth an additional $6.7 billion USD. As of Day 3, Airbus’s total order value at the show stood at approximately $21 billion, making it the clear leader in commercial aviation sales at this year’s event.
Embraer Makes Waves in Regional and Military Sectors
On the same day, Embraer secured a significant deal with SkyWest Airlines (USA), which ordered 60 Embraer E175 regional jets with options for 50 more, in a deal valued at around $3.6 billion USD. This solidifies Embraer’s dominance in the regional jet market.
On the military side, Embraer’s C-390 Millennium—a versatile multi-role transport aircraft—gained a new operator in Lithuania. Though specific order details were not disclosed, the announcement marks an expansion of the C-390’s global customer base.
Boeing’s Absence and Ongoing Challenges
In stark contrast, Boeing did not receive a single new aircraft order as of Day 3. The company’s focus appeared to be on addressing the aftermath of the recent Air India 787 Dreamliner crash, casting a shadow over its presence and contributing to what many viewed as a grim day for Boeing at the show.
Overall, Day 3 of the Paris Air Show 2025 was marked by strong momentum for Airbus and Embraer, particularly in wide-body, regional, and military aircraft markets. In contrast, Boeing’s lack of announcements highlighted ongoing challenges for the American manufacturer.
