20,000 pilots needed in India; InterGlobe–CAE to launch training centre in Mumbai
CAE and InterGlobe are launching a state-of-the-art Mumbai pilot training centre to meet India’s soaring demand for skilled pilots.
India’s aviation industry is climbing at record pace, and with it, the demand for professional pilots is skyrocketing.
To meet this growing need, CAE Simulation Training Private Limited (CSTPL)—a joint venture between InterGlobe Enterprises and CAE—has announced the opening of a cutting-edge pilot training centre in Mumbai.
This expansion reinforces India’s position as one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets while ensuring the next generation of pilots receive world-class training closer to home.
State-of-the-Art Facility in Mumbai
The upcoming 44,000 square-foot centre will have the capacity to house up to six full-flight simulators (FFS). Scheduled to begin operations in the first quarter of 2026, the facility will initially operate with two Airbus A320 FFS, catering to India’s most widely used aircraft fleet.
Meeting India’s Rising Pilot Demand
“With India expected to require as many as 20,000 new pilots over the next decade, the new centre in Mumbai strengthens CSTPL’s role in supporting this growth,” said Michel Azar-Hmouda, CAE’s Division President, Commercial Aviation.
He highlighted that the addition of the Mumbai hub brings training excellence closer to India’s aviation hubs, boosting both operational efficiency and capacity for airlines.
A Booming Market Forecast
According to CAE’s 2025 Aviation Talent Forecast, the Asia-Pacific region will require 98,000 new pilots by 2034. India, as one of the fastest-growing aviation markets globally, will play a pivotal role in fulfilling this demand. The Mumbai training centre is set to become a vital link in strengthening the talent pipeline for airlines and the broader aviation ecosystem.
CSTPL’s Expanding Footprint in India
CSTPL currently operates three training centres across Greater Noida, Gurugram, and Bengaluru, with the capacity to operate up to 23 full-flight simulators. The Mumbai centre will further enhance CSTPL’s offerings, providing comprehensive training programs on Airbus, ATR, and Boeing aircraft—including type ratings, recurrent training, and proficiency checks.
Conclusion: Building India’s Aviation Future
With its Mumbai expansion, CSTPL is not only investing in infrastructure but also in the future of Indian aviation. By combining global expertise with local demand, CAE and InterGlobe are ensuring that India’s next generation of pilots is ready to take flight on both domestic and international skies.
