Air India’s North American Push Gets Stronger
With a firm plan to launch non-stop routes to Seattle, Los Angeles, and air india flight from dallas to delhi, air india is setting the stage for a major expansion in the ultra-long-haul travel segment.
This move builds upon its already dominant presence across North America, where it currently operates 11 major routes including connections to New York (JFK), Newark, San Francisco, Chicago, Washington D.C., Toronto, and Vancouver.
air india flights plans to utilize its growing fleet of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, along with newly acquired Airbus A350s and Boeing 777s, to launch long-haul services to these new destinations. These modern aircraft are built for range, fuel efficiency, and passenger comfort — making them ideal for transcontinental operations to the western U.S.
Strategic Codeshare with Alaska Airlines
A key enabler in this expansion is Air India’s codeshare partnership with Alaska Airlines (AS). With Alaska’s hub based at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), passengers flying on Air India can seamlessly connect to several domestic U.S. cities.
Alaska Airlines has also hinted at launching new India-bound long-haul services using its Hawaiian 787-9 aircraft from the Seattle hub — making the route even more attractive and competitive.
With the proposed addition of Seattle, Los Angeles, and Dallas/Fort Worth, Air India’s footprint in the U.S. market will grow stronger than ever. This expansion will improve connectivity for Indian travelers heading to the U.S. West Coast and South-Central region, offering more options and reducing travel time through non-stop flights.
Dominating the Skies
According to data from Cirium, from October 2024 to February 2025, Air India is expected to control 75% of all nonstop seats between India and North America.
And when combined with Star Alliance partners like United Airlines and Air Canada, that share jumps to a commanding 94%. This makes Air India and its alliance the undisputed leaders in the India–North America air travel corridor.
