In a major boost to India-Brazil economic and strategic ties, Brazilian aerospace giant Embraer is taking a significant step toward deepening its presence in the Indian market.

The company’s decision to establish a fully-owned subsidiary in India marks a new chapter in bilateral cooperation, promising not only to strengthen aviation ties but also to generate employment and stimulate the Indian aerospace industry

Embraer has entered advanced discussions with two of India’s largest carriers—IndiGo (6E) and air india (AI)—for the potential sale of its aircraft. This initiative is part of the company’s strategy to expand its commercial footprint in one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets.

Recognizing India’s immense market potential, Embraer sees this as a key opportunity to establish long-term partnerships and deliver tailored aircraft solutions to meet the country’s unique operational and infrastructural needs.

New Subsidiary with Headquarters in New Delhi

To anchor its commitment, Embraer is setting up a fully-owned Indian subsidiary with its corporate office located in AeroCity, New Delhi—India’s premium aviation and business hub. This subsidiary will serve as a central point for the company’s operations, growth strategy, and collaborative efforts in the Indian civil and defense aviation sectors.

Focus on Local Procurement and Employment

As part of its localization strategy, Embraer plans to establish a dedicated procurement team in India. This team will explore opportunities in India’s growing aerospace supply chain, aiming to source components and services locally.

Additionally, Embraer is actively recruiting talent in India for key departments such as government relations, communications, procurement, engineering, sales, and marketing. These efforts will not only support the company’s operations but also contribute to employment generation and skill development in India’s aviation ecosystem.

Currently, India operates around 50 Embraer aircraft across 11 different platforms in commercial, business, and defense aviation. Embraer believes that this base can be significantly expanded through collaborative programs and new aircraft sales.

Exploring Technology Transfer and Co-Production

Embraer’s India initiative goes beyond just aircraft sales. The company is exploring the long-term potential for technology transfer, co-production, and even regional aircraft development customized for India’s unique geography and airport infrastructure. Such efforts align with India’s goals of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, positioning the country as a global manufacturing hub in aerospace and defense.

Executive Aviation and Regulatory Outlook

Embraer is also closely monitoring India’s evolving regulatory framework, especially in the private and executive aviation segments. As policy reforms ease operational barriers and encourage private aviation growth, demand for executive jets and specialized aircraft is expected to rise sharply. Embraer aims to capitalize on these emerging trends by offering aircraft models that are well-suited to the Indian market’s evolving needs.
