Air India, India’s one of the top leading airlines, has made travel easier, seamless, and more convenient for passengers by expanding routes and introducing upgraded cabin experiences across its international network.
As part of its Northern Summer Schedule 2026, the airline is deploying new, retrofitted, and upgraded aircraft on key long-haul routes—boosting comfort, capacity, and connectivity worldwide.
Expanded Services and Premium Offerings
Between February and March 2026, Air India is enhancing multiple routes. From 14 February, Delhi–Tokyo (Haneda) will be operated by the modern Boeing 787-9 featuring a three-class configuration, including Premium Economy.
Delhi–Toronto frequencies will increase to 10 weekly flights from 1 March, while Delhi–Seoul (Incheon) and Delhi–Shanghai will also see frequency boosts from late March, adding thousands of seats each month.
Major Upgrades from July 2026
Starting 1 July 2026, Mumbai–London (Heathrow) flights will feature new and retrofitted B787-9 and B787-8 aircraft with all-new cabin interiors, replacing the older B777-300ER.
Delhi–Melbourne will see the introduction of First Class aboard upgraded Boeing 777-300ER jets, offering eight First Class suites. Bengaluru–London (Heathrow) will also introduce Premium Economy with retrofitted Dreamliners, ensuring all Heathrow services feature refreshed cabins.
Air India will further upgrade North America operations, with over 50% of flights featuring new or enhanced interiors, particularly on the Delhi–Toronto route. Meanwhile, select routes to Birmingham and London Gatwick will now include First Class cabins using B777-300ER aircraft.
Fleet Modernization in Full Swing
The airline is retrofitting 26 legacy B787-8 aircraft with brand-new interiors and its updated livery. In addition, deliveries of three new B787-9s and two Airbus A350-1000 aircraft are expected in 2026.
With expanded frequencies, upgraded cabins, and steady fleet induction, Air India continues its transformation into a modern, globally competitive full-service carrier—offering passengers enhanced comfort and a superior international travel experience.
