Indian airlines Air India and IndiGo urge passengers flying to Gulf destinations to check flight status amid evolving Middle East travel conditions and revised schedules.
Air travel to the Middle East saw fresh uncertainty on April 1, 2026, as leading Indian airlines issued new advisories amid rapidly changing regional conditions.
Passengers flying to Gulf destinations were urged to stay alert, check flight updates carefully, and plan their airport travel accordingly. Here’s a clear breakdown of what travellers need to know.
As travel conditions across the Middle East continue to evolve, Air India and IndiGo have released fresh advisories for passengers flying to major Gulf destinations including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Muscat, and cities in Saudi Arabia. Both airlines stressed that schedules may change at short notice and asked travellers to verify flight status before leaving for the airport.
Air India Operations and Route Updates
Air India announced that, along with Air India Express, it is operating a mix of scheduled and additional (ad-hoc) flights to maintain connectivity with West Asia while ensuring passenger safety.
Limited ad-hoc services are currently operating to select UAE destinations:
- Dubai: Additional flights from Delhi
- Abu Dhabi: Services from Delhi, Kochi, Mangalore, and Mumbai
- Sharjah: Flights from Amritsar and Kannur
Meanwhile, regular scheduled operations continue for some routes:
- Muscat (Oman): Flights from Delhi, Mumbai, and Kannur
- Jeddah (Saudi Arabia): Services from Delhi, Mumbai, Kozhikode, and Mangalore
- Riyadh: Scheduled operations remain active
However, flights to Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Tel Aviv remain suspended for now.
The airline clarified that its long-haul flights to North America, Europe, Australia, and other international destinations are operating normally without disruption.
IndiGo Advisory and Flight Operations
IndiGo also issued a travel notice highlighting that Middle East conditions remain dynamic. The airline advised passengers to monitor updates through official communication channels, stating that flight timings could change depending on operational requirements.
Despite uncertainties, IndiGo continues to operate multiple services connecting Indian cities with Gulf destinations such as Jeddah, Riyadh, Medina, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah. Key routes include flights from Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, and other major cities.
Passengers are being notified directly through registered contact details, and airline teams are working to minimise disruptions and maintain smooth travel experiences.
