India’s one of the most leading airlines, Air India, has taken another big step to make international travel more seamless and convenient. With a strong focus on improving passenger experience and global connectivity, the airline continues to expand its reach—this time by unlocking smoother journeys across North America.

In a major development, Air India has announced a new interline partnership with WestJet, Canada’s leading leisure carrier. This move is set to significantly boost connectivity between India and North America, going beyond just major entry points like Toronto and Vancouver.

So what does this partnership mean for travelers?

Simply put, passengers can now book a single ticket that combines flights from both airlines. That means no more juggling multiple bookings or worrying about baggage during layovers. With coordinated baggage handling and smoother transfers, the entire journey becomes far more streamlined and stress-free.

Once passengers land in Canada, the real advantage kicks in. Through WestJet’s network, Air India travelers can easily connect to 17 cities across Canada—including places like Calgary, Montreal, and Halifax—as well as 14 major destinations in the United States such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.

There’s also added flexibility for those flying via Europe. Cities like Amsterdam, Paris, and London act as key gateways, allowing passengers to seamlessly connect onward to Canadian destinations such as Halifax, Calgary, and St. John’s.

Speaking on the partnership, Air India’s Chief Commercial Officer highlighted how Canada remains a crucial market, driven by strong cultural ties and growing business links. This collaboration is aimed at making travel easier, more flexible, and more accessible for passengers flying between the two regions.

Echoing the sentiment, a senior executive from WestJet emphasized that the agreement brings together Air India’s strong long-haul operations with WestJet’s extensive North American network—creating a more connected and efficient travel experience.

Currently, Air India operates 17 non-stop weekly flights to Canada, with frequent services to both Toronto and Vancouver. On top of that, it runs a robust network of flights to Europe, further strengthening connectivity options.

With this new partnership now live, bookings are already available through Air India’s website, mobile app, and travel agents worldwide—marking yet another step in the airline’s transformation journey.

In simple terms, this isn’t just a partnership—it’s a major upgrade in how people travel between India and North America.
