Breaking the No-Frills Tradition

In a surprising departure from its all-economy model, indigo flight A321XLRs will feature a two-class configuration. Each aircraft will include 12 premium IndiGo Stretch seats alongside 183 economy seats, bringing the total capacity to 195 passengers.

This marks a strategic move to attract business travelers and premium economy passengers who seek greater comfort on long-haul routes.

While the A321XLR is a narrow-body aircraft, IndiGo has also been eyeing widebody operations. To prepare for its upcoming fleet expansion, the airline has wet-leased four Boeing 787s from Norse Atlantic Airways.

This move is helping IndiGo gain experience in long-haul operations before the arrival of its 30 Airbus A350-900s, which will further elevate its presence in the intercontinental market.
