India’s aviation industry is experiencing unprecedented growth, driven by surging air travel demand. Riyadh Air’s Entry into the Indian Market

Set to launch operations later this year, Riyadh Air is in preliminary discussions with both Air India and IndiGo to capitalize on the increasing demand for air travel between India and Saudi Arabia.

With a vision to become a global aviation leader, Riyadh Air has identified India as a key market for expansion, given its growing middle class and rising outbound travel trends.

Riyadh Air has set an ambitious target to connect Saudi Arabia to over 100 destinations worldwide by 2030. To achieve this, the airline has already established partnerships with major international carriers, including Singapore Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, and Delta Air Lines. Now, it aims to bridge critical gaps in its network—particularly in North-Western Europe and India—through collaborations with Indian airlines.

Fleet and Connectivity Plans

Riyadh Air will commence operations with a modern fleet of 60 Airbus A321neo narrow-body jets and 72 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, enabling it to offer both regional and long-haul connectivity. By partnering with Indian carriers, the airline seeks to provide seamless travel options for passengers flying between India and Saudi Arabia, catering to both business and leisure travelers.

Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas revealed that discussions with Indian airlines are still in the early stages and remain exploratory. However, he emphasized that any potential partnership must be mutually beneficial, ensuring value for both Riyadh Air and its Indian counterparts.

India: A High-Priority Market
India holds significant importance for Riyadh Air, with over 1.5 million Indian tourists visiting Saudi Arabia in 2023—a number expected to grow further in the coming years. By forging strong alliances with Indian airlines, like air india Riyadh Air aims to enhance connectivity, meet rising travel demand, and establish itself as a preferred carrier for travelers between the two nations.
