HAL Showcases Dhruv NG and H-228 at Wings India 2026

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is set to put the spotlight on India’s growing civil aviation capabilities at Wings India 2026, scheduled from January 28 to 31 at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad.

The showcase marks a major step in HAL’s expanding civil portfolio, with the H-228 commuter aircraft, Dhruv New Generation (NG) helicopter, and the Superjet (SJ)-100 regional aircraft—making its formal debut in India—taking centre stage.

Speaking ahead of the event, Dr. D.K. Sunil, Chairman and Managing Director of HAL, said the display of the Dhruv NG, H-228 and SJ-100 reflects HAL’s focused drive to strengthen regional air connectivity, civil utility operations, and future-ready aviation programmes, while supporting India’s vision of self-reliance in civil aviation.

HAL will be located at Hall A, Stall No. 27, where visitors can view scaled models of the Dhruv NG, H-228, H-228 Amphibian, SJ-100, LUH Civil variant, along with Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and aviation accessories designed for civil operators. A major crowd-puller will be the static display of the Dhruv NG, H-228, SJ-100, and the SJ-100 Aurus business jet.

As part of its international collaboration, HAL is working with Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) to enable manufacturing of the SJ-100 in India, reinforcing the country’s Make in India initiative. The static display will be complemented by customer demonstration flights of the Dhruv NG and H-228, offering a live showcase of their performance, safety, and operational versatility.

To enhance visitor engagement, HAL will also host digital product kiosks highlighting aviation components, accessories, and MRO services, with multiple MoUs expected to be signed during the exhibition. HAL’s presence at Wings India 2026 underlines its role as a key player in India’s aviation ecosystem, actively supporting the UDAN regional connectivity scheme and inviting OEMs, operators, and industry professionals to explore collaboration opportunities.

Dhruv New Generation (NG): Multi-Role Capability Redefined

The Dhruv NG is a modern twin-engine helicopter designed for a wide range of civil and utility missions. With a range of around 630 km and a cruise speed of nearly 250 km/h, it is well-suited for regional transport, offshore operations, and emergency services.

The helicopter features a maximum take-off weight of approximately 5,800 kg and a useful payload of about 1,500 kg, enabling it to carry up to 14 passengers or specialised mission equipment. Its glass cockpit, advanced avionics, and proven hot-and-high performance make it highly reliable in challenging Indian operating environments.

HAL H-228: Powering Regional Connectivity

The H-228 is a rugged 19-seat twin-turboprop commuter aircraft developed to meet India’s growing regional aviation needs. It offers a range of about 1,200 km and cruises at around 450 km/h, making it ideal for short-haul routes. With a maximum take-off weight of nearly 6,950 kg and a payload capacity of about 2,100 kg, the H-228 can operate from short and semi-prepared runways. Designed for low operating costs, high reliability, and ease of maintenance, it is perfectly suited for UDAN routes, island connectivity, and remote regions.
