Dassault to Launch MRO and Rafale Fuselage Production in India, Generating 20,000 Jobs

In a groundbreaking move, India and France have recently finalized a multi-billion-dollar deal for the acquisition of 26 Dassault-made Rafale Marine fighter jets for the Indian Navy.

This deal, announced on April 28, 2025, includes a comprehensive package of jets, weapons, simulators, and training, strengthening the strategic defense relationship between the two nations.

Along with the fighter jet deal, France’s Dassault Aviation has taken a bold step toward India’s self-reliance by planning to establish a rafale jet fuselage production facility and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) centers in India. A significant highlight of this deal is the Transfer of Technology (ToT) provisions, which will enable India to set up a Rafale fuselage production facility and MRO centers within the country, marking a major leap from assembly to core manufacturing.

This initiative is aligned with India’s “Make in India” initiative, advancing the nation’s defense self-reliance while integrating it into the global dassault rafale supply chain.

Fuselage Production Facility in Noida

The fuselage production facility, likely to be based in Noida or near the Jewar International Airport in Uttar Pradesh, will focus on producing the rafale dassault fuselage, a vital structural component of the aircraft.

This facility is a significant shift from basic assembly, moving India toward advanced core manufacturing for rafale india jets. This step will strengthen India’s position as a key player in the MRFA program, which aims to acquire 114 multi-role fighter aircraft over the next two decades.

Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Facilities

In addition to the fuselage production facility, Dassault Aviation plans to establish MRO hubs in Noida under Dassault Aviation Maintenance Repair and Overhaul India (DAMROI).

These facilities will maintain Rafale and Mirage-2000 jets, along with potential services for Jaguar fighters. The MRO facility will provide maintenance for engines, sensors, and weapons systems, ensuring the operational readiness of both India’s fleet and international customers.

According to YEIDA, the Dassault project is expected to create over 20,000 jobs, providing massive employment opportunities for skilled youth in the region.
