Will Aero India 2025 Miss Its Star Performer, Sarang?
As the countdown to Aero India 2025 nears its final stretch with just nine days to go, aviation enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the grand showcase of aerial excellence.
However, uncertainty looms over the participation of one of the event’s biggest attractions—the Indian Air Force’s Sarang aerobatic team. The Sarang team, renowned for its thrilling formations and precision flying, may miss this edition of the biennial airshow due to the continued grounding of the ALH Dhruv helicopters.
The decision comes after a Dhruv crash in January, prompting Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and the IAF to suspend operations of all 330 Dhruv helicopters as a precautionary measure.
Sarang’s Uncertain Return
The absence of Sarang would be a major setback for Aero India, an event that has always featured both Sarang and the Suryakiran aerobatic team alongside international participants. The uncertainty follows Sarang’s non-participation in an air show in Vadodara on January 21-22, where only Suryakiran performed after Sarang failed to get clearance.
While the Suryakiran team, which flies fixed-wing jets, remains unaffected, Sarang’s return hinges on the investigation into the Dhruv crashes and subsequent clearance from HAL and the IAF.
Impact on Aero India 2025
If Sarang is unable to participate, it would disappoint thousands of fans who look forward to their breathtaking maneuvers. The team not only adds to the thrill of the event but also symbolizes India’s indigenous defense capabilities.
With time running out, all eyes are on the IAF and HAL to see whether the Dhruv fleet gets the green light before Aero India 2025 kicks off. Until then, Sarang’s fate remains uncertain—let’s hope for the best!
