United Airlines flight to Newark delayed after overhead compartment leaks
On Christmas Eve, a United Airlines flight to Newark that had been delayed finally touched down in the early hours of the morning, but the leak in the plane’s overhead compartment forced passengers to wait at least another hour on the tarmac.
“UA1125 was 4 hours delayed and finally landed at 3AM in Newark, only to spend another hour stuck on the tarmac. 4:15 AM is now. When do we get to leave this nightmare?!” tweeted @orangelimelime, posting a video of something dripping into their seat next to them from the overhead compartment.

This year’s already hectic holiday travels have become even more stressful as a bomb cyclone devastated a significant portion of the nation. According to the flight tracking website FlightAware, severe weather conditions including persistently heavy snow, wind, and ice have caused more than 13,590 flights to be delayed through early December 24 and 7,697 to be cancelled between Friday and Monday.
