Total Aircraft Orders Soar at Paris Air Show 2025

The Paris Air Show 2025, held from June 16 to 22 at Le Bourget Airport, recorded an estimated 600 to 800 commercial aircraft orders.

This total includes firm orders, Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), Letters of Intent (LoIs), and purchase options, based on various analyst reports. The precise number differs slightly across sources due to variations in how provisional agreements and options are categorized.

The Paris Air Show concluded on June 22, delivering its usual spectacle and excitement. However, this edition faced several geopolitical setbacks that impacted the defense sector’s participation.

Ongoing conflicts, such as the Russia-Ukraine war and tensions between Iran and Israel, led to noticeable limitations in the display and promotion of certain defense products. Additionally, Boeing’s recent aircraft incident contributed to the absence of any major orders for the company during the show.

Despite these challenges, the seven-day event remained a success, showcasing a wide range of aircraft in both static and flying displays. Highlights included the Dassault Rafale, Falcon 6x, Eurofighter Typhoon, Airbus Racer helicopter, A350-1000, Airbus A400M, Embraer C-390 Millennium, NH90 helicopter, and the Tiger attack helicopter.

The French aerobatic team, Patrouille de France, also delivered a stunning aerial performance. The airshow recorded over 600 aircraft orders, underlining the aviation industry’s resilience and continued growth.

Major Highlights and Breakdown of Orders

Airbus: Market Leader at the Show

Airbus emerged as the clear leader, securing approximately 248 to 404 firm orders valued at around $21 billion, along with an additional 156 to 206 provisional agreements (MoUs and LoIs). Some key deals included:

  • VietJet Air: 100 A321neos (firm), with options for 50 more.
  • Riyadh Air: 25 A350-1000s (firm), plus options for 25 additional aircraft.
  • LOT Polish Airlines: 40 A220s (20 A220-100s and 20 A220-300s, firm), with options for up to 44 more.
  • AviLease: 30 A320neo-family aircraft and 10 A350F freighters (firm), with options for 25 A320neos and 12 A350Fs.
  • Starlux Airlines: 10 A350-1000s (firm).
  • EgyptAir: 6 A350-900s (firm), expanding a previous order to a total of 16.
  • MNG Airlines: 2 A350F freighters (MoU).
  • All Nippon Airways (ANA): 27 A321neo/XLRs (firm), part of a broader order totaling 77 aircraft across manufacturers.

Boeing: Impacted by Recent Incident

The recent crash involving Air India’s Boeing 787 had a significant impact on Boeing, affecting both its stock performance and its presence at the Paris Air Show 2025. While Boeing had anticipated a large number of orders during the event, the incident ultimately dampened expectations and led to a subdued showing.

Despite this setback, Boeing is continuing its efforts to secure certification for the long-awaited 777X aircraft by the end of 2025. Achieving this milestone could spark renewed demand for both the Boeing 777 and 787 series. Meanwhile, NTSB, Boeing and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are jointly investigating the Air India crash, and the findings could influence market sentiment in the months ahead.

Nevertheless, Boeing did present select aircraft at the show, maintaining its visibility and demonstrating continued confidence in its products on the global stage.

One order attributed to Boeing during the event was:

  • All Nippon Airways (ANA): Finalized an agreement for 45 aircraft, primarily 787-9s—part of a deal originally announced in February 2025.

Embraer: Strong Regional Jet Sales

Embraer reported 77 firm orders and 55 purchase options, with key highlights including:

  • SkyWest Airlines: 60 E175 jets (firm), with options for 50 more—valued at $3.6 billion.
  • All Nippon Airways (ANA): 15 E190-E2s (firm) with 5 options.
  • Airlink: Lease of 10 E195-E2s from Azorra.

ATR: Regional Turboprop Demand

ATR also gained traction during the show:

  • JSX: Signed a Letter of Intent for 15 ATR 42-600s (firm), with options for 10 more.
