Airbus has just answered that question by opening one of the most advanced aviation training centres ever built.

Located in Toulouse, France—the birthplace of Airbus—the new Flight Operations & Training Skywise Campus brings pilots, cabin crew and aircraft technicians together under one roof, combining world-class instructors with the latest digital technology and full-flight simulators.

The facility officially became fully operational in June 2026 and represents Airbus’ biggest investment in aviation training in recent years.

Why Did Airbus Build This New Training Campus?

The global aviation industry is expanding rapidly. Today, more than 13,000 Airbus aircraft are flying with airlines worldwide.

Over the next two decades, the aviation industry is expected to require more than two million additional aviation professionals, including pilots, maintenance engineers and cabin crew. To help meet that enormous demand, Airbus has developed a training campus capable of preparing around 9,000 trainees every year.

The centre also operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, ensuring airlines can train crews throughout the year.

A Modern Campus Built Around Aviation

Unlike traditional training centres, Airbus designed the campus to be both technologically advanced and environmentally sustainable.

The buildings have received the prestigious BREEAM “Very Good” environmental certification thanks to their low-carbon design, renewable energy systems and efficient water management.

Airbus says the goal was not only to build a training centre but also to create a comfortable learning environment where trainees can study, collaborate and prepare for airline operations.

Inside the Airbus Training Centre

One of the most impressive features of the new campus is its collection of Full Flight Simulators (FFS). Instead of hiding the simulators inside enclosed buildings, Airbus has made them the centrepiece of the campus.

Large glass walls allow visitors and trainees to see the sophisticated simulator bays, showcasing one of the most advanced pilot training environments in the aviation industry.

The campus has space for up to 12 Full Flight Simulators, each capable of recreating highly realistic flight conditions using electric motion systems and ultra-high-definition visuals.These simulators can even be configured to match the requirements of specific airline fleets.

Digital Learning Before Flying

Airbus is also changing how pilots learn.Instead of relying entirely on classroom lectures and simulator sessions, trainees first complete digital learning modules.

The campus includes more than 2,000 square metres of digital classrooms, where pilots practice complex flight procedures before stepping inside a simulator.

This blended approach allows students to master aircraft systems and procedures at their own pace.When they finally enter the simulator, instructors can focus on the skills that matter most—decision-making, teamwork and handling real-world situations.

Hands-On Training for Aircraft Technicians

The new campus isn’t only for pilots. Aircraft maintenance technicians receive practical training inside dedicated engineering laboratories. Here they learn how to inspect, maintain and repair both metallic and composite aircraft structures used across the Airbus fleet.

This hands-on experience prepares engineers for real airline maintenance operations while ensuring they meet Airbus’ global maintenance standards.

Around 650 Airbus employees work at the Toulouse campus.Pilots, instructors, maintenance specialists, flight operations experts and digital services teams all work together in one location.

This close collaboration allows Airbus to continuously improve training programs and quickly introduce new technologies as aircraft continue to evolve.

How Can You Get Training at Airbus?

The Airbus Toulouse campus is not generally open for individual public enrollment.
