Passenger Vomits 30 Times on Etihad Flight After “Smelly” Meal

Airplane food often gets a bad reputation—bland, tasteless, and sometimes even unappetizing. At 35,000 feet, our taste buds don’t work the same way, making food seem less salty or flavorful. But for one passenger on an etihad airways flight from Manchester to Abu Dhabi, the meal wasn’t just disappointing—it allegedly made him violently sick.

A British traveler, Callaghan, claims he suffered severe food poisoning after eating an inflight meal of tomato, cheesy, chicken pasta. What followed was nothing short of a nightmare.

“I Couldn’t Stop Throwing Up”

Just 10 minutes after his meal, Callaghan started feeling unwell. Diarrhea hit first, followed by relentless vomiting. He says he threw up 30 times throughout the six-hour journey, leaving him so weak that he couldn’t even stand.

“I was going to the toilet every five minutes, laying in the fetal position, and by the end of the flight, I had emptied my body so much that I couldn’t even stand up,” he said.

Forced to Stay in the Back of the Plane

As the vomiting continued, Callaghan had to stay near the back of the aircraft so flight attendants could assist him while keeping the lavatory free for other passengers.

“I felt so embarrassed every time someone tried to use the restroom,” he admitted.

When the flight finally landed in Abu Dhabi, Callaghan was too weak to walk and had to be wheeled to the airport’s medical center.

Etihad Airways Responds

Etihad Airways denies responsibility, stating that their inflight meals are prepared and stored under strict temperature-controlled conditions.

In a statement, the airline said:

“We take all such matters very seriously and investigate thoroughly. Our food on this flight, as with all our flights, was prepared and stored under strict temperature-controlled conditions to ensure safety and quality. We did not receive any reports of illness from other passengers who ate the same meal.”

While Callaghan blames the meal, Etihad stands firm, saying passenger safety is their top priority.
