Visitors to Aero India 2025 can explore the advanced capabilities of the C-390 and other military aircraft during the event.
KC-390 Millennium: A Versatile Force in Military Transport
The KC-390 Millennium is a standout among medium-sized military transport aircraft, thanks to its incredible versatility and high performance. Capable of carrying up to 26 tons of payload, this aircraft offers unmatched speed and range, outshining its competitors in the same category. With a top speed of 470 knots, the KC-390 is equipped to handle a variety of critical missions, such as:
- Cargo and troop transport
- Medical evacuation
- Search and rescue operations
- Firefighting
- Humanitarian efforts
One of its key features is the ability to operate on temporary and unpaved runways, including packed earth, soil, and gravel. This adaptability makes it an invaluable asset for missions in remote or underdeveloped areas. Additionally, the KC-390 is designed for air-to-air refueling, functioning effectively as both a tanker and a receiver, increasing its operational flexibility.
Proven Performance and Global Presence
Since entering service, the KC-390 has demonstrated remarkable reliability. The Brazilian Air Force became the first to operate the aircraft in 2019, followed by the Portuguese Air Force in 2023 and the Hungarian Air Force in 2024. The KC-390 boasts an impressive 93% mission capability rate and an outstanding mission completion rate of over 99%, accumulating more than 16,300 flight hours to date.
The aircraft’s global presence continues to grow, with countries including Brazil, Portugal, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, the Republic of Korea, Sweden, Slovakia, and more recently an undisclosed customer selecting the C-390 for their defense requirements.
Embraer’s Strong Footprint in India
Embraer has a long-standing presence in India, with more than 40 aircraft in operation across various sectors, including defense, commercial aviation, and executive jets. The Indian Air Force (IAF) and Border Security Force (BSF) rely on Embraer aircraft, including the Legacy 600 used for transporting government officials and VIPs. Additionally, the IAF operates the ‘Netra’ AEW&C aircraft, based on the Embraer ERJ145 platform.
Embraer’s contribution to aero india aviation landscape extends beyond defense. Star Air, one of India’s largest regional airlines, operates an all-Embraer fleet consisting of E175 and ERJ145 aircraft, further solidifying Embraer’s impact on the country’s aviation sector.
