Why IndiGo Flights to Dubai Are So Expensive in 2026

Indigo Airfares from India to Dubai have risen sharply in 2026, with IndiGo among the airlines affected by the increase. The main reasons are the escalation of the West Asia conflict, rising fuel and insurance costs, flight disruptions, and reduced capacity on India–Gulf routes.

Higher Aviation Fuel Prices

One of the biggest factors has been the sharp increase in aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices. Oil markets were disrupted by the conflict, with concerns surrounding the Strait of Hormuz adding further pressure on crude oil and jet-fuel prices.

Fuel can account for around 30–40% of an airline’s operating costs, meaning a major increase can quickly translate into higher ticket prices. IndiGo introduced a fuel surcharge on March 14, 2026, and increased it again from April 2. For GCC and Middle East routes, including Dubai, the surcharge added roughly ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 per sector, depending on the distance.

Higher Insurance and Operating Costs

Airlines also faced significantly higher war-risk insurance premiums and additional operating expenses. Airspace restrictions forced some flights to take longer routes, increasing fuel consumption and reducing aircraft utilization.

At the same time, restrictions on the number of flights allowed to operate on certain India–Gulf routes reduced available seats. This created a major capacity shortage during the peak of the disruption.

Lower Capacity, Higher Demand

The India–Dubai market normally has strong demand, and Dubai remains one of the most popular international destinations for Indian travelers. When the number of available seats fell sharply, fares increased rapidly.

During the worst period of the disruption, tickets that would normally cost around ₹10,000–₹15,000 one way were reportedly selling for ₹50,000–₹60,000 or even more on some dates.

Seasonal Demand Adds Further Pressure

Although fares have come down from their extreme March–May peaks, prices remain higher than pre-conflict levels on many dates. Rising ATF prices and strong travel demand ahead of the Dussehra and Diwali period are also putting additional pressure on fares.

As of early October 2026, one-way IndiGo fares from Delhi or Mumbai to Dubai can commonly fall in the ₹15,000–₹25,000-plus range, depending heavily on the travel date, availability and how early the ticket is booked.

Overall, the increase in India–Dubai airfares is not being driven by a single factor. The West Asia conflict has pushed up fuel and insurance costs while also disrupting flight operations and reducing capacity. With strong demand for Dubai, airlines have been able to pass much of these additional costs on to passengers through surcharges and dynamic pricing.

Fares can still change quickly depending on fuel prices, geopolitical developments, available capacity and seasonal demand. Travelers looking to fly to Dubai can often save money by booking early and comparing different airlines and travel dates.
