Embraer C-390 to be displayed at AeroIndia 2025: Know More About Its Game-Changing Features
The countdown to Aero India 2025 has officially begun, and one of the most anticipated highlights is the Embraer C-390, which will be showcased at this prestigious airshow. The event will take place from February 10-14 at the Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bengaluru.
In 2023, Aero India we had the opportunity to witness the impressive C-390 aircraft, a versatile military transport platform that also made waves at the Farnborough Airshow 2024.
And also during the Farnborough Airshow 2024, Embraer invited us for a first-hand experience of the C-390.
This state-of-the-art aircraft impressed us with its smooth performance, spacious interior, and modern design, led by Embraer’s President & CEO, Francisco Gomes Neto, and Chief of Defense and Security, Bosco da Costa Junior.

The aircraft is currently in service with the Brazilian, Portuguese, and Argentine Air Forces, fulfilling its role as a reliable airlift platform for military personnel and equipment.
Versatility of the C-390
The C-390 is designed for a range of military tasks, from transporting personnel and cargo to refueling other aircraft mid-air. Its cargo compartment is spacious enough to carry military vehicles, large equipment, and troops.
The interior is built for operational efficiency, featuring different seating arrangements for passengers, as well as rugged cargo areas and a loadmaster computer to ensure smooth operations.

One of the most exciting developments is Embraer’s proposal to transform the C-390 into a drone mothership.
This transformation would allow the aircraft to launch and control swarms of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for surveillance, reconnaissance, and precision strikes, revolutionizing modern warfare.
The KC-390 is powered by two International Aero Engines V2500-E5 turbofan engines and has a maximum takeoff weight of 81,500 kilograms (179,700 pounds).
It can carry up to 26 metric tons (57,000 pounds) of cargo, or up to 80 fully-equipped troops, and has a range of up to 2,730 nautical miles (5,056 kilometers) with a full payload.
Embraer’s Future in India: Strengthening Ties with Indian Defense
Embraer is taking significant steps to expand its presence in the Indian defense sector. In addition to showcasing the C-390, the Brazilian company is in talks with India’s Tata and Mahindra groups for potential aircraft manufacturing partnerships.
As Embraer aims to increase its footprint in India, the country’s growing demand for regional and multi-role defense aircraft offers a great opportunity.

India’s defense analysts are particularly excited about the C-390 Millennium’s potential to meet the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) needs for cost-effective, high-performance transport aircraft.
Embraer’s collaboration with the IAF dates back to the successful deployment of its ERJ145 platform for the Netra airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) system.
A Growing Partnership: Helicopters and Drones
Alongside aircraft, Brazil is exploring opportunities to acquire Indian-made helicopters and drones. This move aligns with Brazil’s aim to expand its defense capabilities, particularly in roles such as Amazon operations and disaster relief.
Embraer’s focus on these defense solutions positions them well to meet the growing demands of Indian defense.
