For modifications to aircraft regulations, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has released a draft notification. Within 30 days, the ministry is open to recommendations and concerns regarding the rules.
‘Receiving before the above-said date of birth on behalf of any person in respect of the said draft rules any objections or suggestions will be considered by the Central Government,’ the draft notification further said. The license for light sport ships and gyroplanes will only be issued by the licensing authority, according to amendments the Ministry has recommended. In addition, they will determine the license’s medical fitness, validity, and duration.
An idea to increase the duration of a commercial pilot’s license was also included in the amendment. From its current five-year validity, it will have a ten-year extension. The draft also stated that the Flight Navigator and Radio Telephone Operator Licenses will be valid for ten years. The validity of an airline transport pilot license is also proposed to be extended for ten years.
A proposal to increase the distance for any aerodrome and light show around the airport to 5 nautical miles is also possible. According to the ministry, the current distance is 5 kilometers, which may lead to confusion.
