Airbus Secures 650,000 Sq Ft Office in Bengaluru for 10 Years

Airbus, a global leader in aerospace and defense, has taken a significant step in expanding its footprint in India. The company has leased over 650,000 square feet of office space in Bengaluru’s Whitefield area to establish its Global Capability Centre (GCC).

This strategic move is part of Airbus’s ongoing efforts to enhance its global operations through innovation and technology initiatives. The lease agreement, valued at over ₹500 crore, secures an entire building at Titanium Tech Park, marking a milestone in the company’s expansion plans.

The 10-year lease comes with a scalability clause, allowing Airbus to increase its leased space by an additional 150,000 square feet after one year. If this expansion happens, Airbus will have access to a total of 800,000 square feet.

Additionally, the lease includes an option to extend the tenure for another five years, potentially turning the agreement into a 15-year deal, underscoring Airbus’s long-term commitment to its operations in India.

Bengaluru has become a strategic location for Airbus, with the company already operating an engineering centre there. The new GCC will focus on technology-driven initiatives aimed at supporting Airbus’s global operations.

The company’s growing presence in India also includes partnerships with Indian firms such as Tata Advanced Systems and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in aircraft manufacturing and defence. Airbus is also a key player in the C295 aircraft programme, with plans to deliver the first ‘Make in India’ C295 aircraft from Vadodara by 2026.

India’s aerospace market has been rapidly expanding, with rising demand for civil aviation. Major Indian airlines like IndiGo and Air India have placed large orders for aircraft, and the Indian government is working to create policies that will support such growth.

One of the government’s initiatives is to attract more GCCs by establishing dedicated office zones and promoting expansion in smaller towns across the country.
