Boom Supersonic Announces FlightSafety International As Overture Flight Training Partner

The company Boom Supersonic, which is developing the fastest aeroplane in world, has announced Flight Safety International (FSI) as its official partner for Overture supersonic flying education and training. The world’s top commercial aircraft manufacturers and operators depend on FSI as their primary source of flight simulators and professional aviation training.

For Overture’s pilots, mechanics, and cabin crew, FSI will provide a training programme and curriculum that is especially suited for supersonic flight and operations. The extensive training programme will make use of the skills of trained instructors who are certified by the FAA and the EASA, as well as cutting-edge training environments and flight simulators. FSI will offer full-flight simulators to assist Boom’s commercial airline customers that manage their own internal training.

FSI will provide flight deck simulators for The Iron Bird, Boom’s integration test facility in Colorado. They will also provide full-flight simulators and training curriculum for advanced flight training. Developed to support the Overture flight test program, including regulatory certification, the flight simulators will incorporate industry-leading technologies for the highest levels of safety, fidelity, and reliability.

Earlier this week, Boom announced Symphony, the new propulsion system designed and optimized for Overture. Boom also announced that it will be teaming with three industry leaders to develop Symphony including Florida Turbine Technologies (FTT) for engine design, GE Additive for additive technology design consulting, and Standard Aero for maintenance.

With Symphony design already underway, Overture is on track to achieve type certification in 2029. Production is set to commence in 2024 at Overture’s Superfactory in Greensboro, NC, with rollout in 2026 and first flight in 2027.

  • Adjustable mood lighting with modes like “relax,” “dine,” and “cinema.”
  • A cocooned 60-inch curved wall for privacy while maintaining a spacious feel.

Passengers traveling together can enjoy a shared experience with a sliding divider that creates a lounge-like space. The stowable tables also allow for “buddy dining,” where two people can dine together.

The cabin’s flowing curves, inspired by the iconic Concorde wings, create a welcoming and stylish environment. Additionally, passengers can now wheel their luggage directly into their personal storage space, making settling in easier.
