Wild weather leaves passengers on American Airlines flight vomiting

According to American Airlines personnel who spoke with CBS Philadelphia, “moderate turbulence” caused many passengers on a flight to Philadelphia International Airport to become ill. In response to the flight’s arrival at PHL, personnel from the CDC and the Office of Emergency Management arrived to check on the passengers who had reported feeling sick and vomiting.

A passenger on the airplane informed CBS Philadelphia that the captain had described a weather storm that was gathering around us. He asked for permission to go up and down but was turned down because the situation was so bad. Basically, it was really uneven. All of it was erratic. From all sides, it was noisy.

In a statement, an airline spokesman confirmed that the aircraft experienced “moderate turbulence” during the four-hour flight. “The aircraft landed safely and, out of an abundance of caution, was met by first responders before taxiing to the gate,” the official added. None of the travelers needed to be hospitalized, according to the airline.

The National Weather Service’s Aviation Weather Center has issued an alert indicating the existence of severe turbulence in the air across parts of New York, much of Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Maryland, as well as all of New Jersey and Delaware.
