Vegan business class passenger shocked after being served single banana

Vegan business class passenger shocked after being served single banana

A business class traveler on a flight to Japan who requested a vegan breakfast was astonished when a single banana and some chopsticks were served to them.

Shortly after takeoff, the passenger—who was traveling with Japan Airlines—got unimpressive food. They recalled the moment they received the lowly fruit in their account of the incident on the aviation discussion board Flyertalk.

They started by saying, “Before take-off today, my flight attendant confirmed that I ordered VGML (Vegetarian Vegan Meal) and that my breakfast was a banana, by which I mistakenly understood she meant that breakfast included a banana. After takeoff, she served a banana, which I initially took to be a modest appetizer but was actually the complete lunch service.

Fortunately, the traveler remarked that it was “a really nice banana” and “one of the best” they’d had in a while, but they had to confess, “it seems more appropriate as a snack.” The presentation was also lovely, they noted, noting that it was “sweet” of the crew to serve the banana with chopsticks.

A “barely seasoned spaghetti” served for lunch held out a little more hope. Yet the thing that surprised them the most was the breakfast with bananas.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced plans to resume flights to Europe starting in January, beginning with Paris as its first destination.

The decision follows the European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s (EASA) removal of a long-standing ban on the airline. PIA’s inaugural flight to Paris is scheduled for January 10, with bookings opening on December 9.

In an official statement, PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan confirmed that the first flight schedule has been approved, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s recovery efforts. The EU ban had previously cost PIA approximately Rs40 billion ($144 million) annually in lost revenue, compounding its financial struggles.

With European operations restarting, PIA is now setting its sights on the United Kingdom. The airline plans to seek approval from the UK Department for Transport (DfT) to resume flights to major British cities such as London, Manchester, and Birmingham.

By restoring flights to Europe and aiming for UK destinations, PIA is taking critical steps toward recovering lost ground and improving its financial outlook.
