This Russian Jet will replace the Boeing and Airbus widebody aircraft

This Russian Jet will replace the Boeing and Airbus widebody aircraft

Russia is facing aviation sanctions from Western countries, with the majority of jets belonging to Airbus and Boeing. and it is facing an oversupply of components for operating those planes.

Russia has now come up with a solution for local aircraft supply. It is launching the Sj-100 aircraft to replace the western narrowbody aircraft. Furthermore, it is introducing the IL-96 aircraft to replace all Boeing and Airbus widebody aircraft.

Russia’s state-owned United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has completed the first flight of the highly awaited Ilyushin IL-96-400M prototype, marking a significant milestone in the aviation industry. The flight took place at altitudes up to 2000 meters, speeds up to 390 km/h and lasted 26 minutes.

The aircraft’s controllability and stability, as well as the power plant and communications equipment for landing, were all examined throughout the trip. The testing programme was successful, and it was established that Russian systems and equipment the majority of which were produced by Rostec State Corporation enterprises operated steadily.

The aircraft is a modernized version of the Il-96-300, features a fuselage extended by 9.35 meters, more powerful PS-90A1 engines and can accommodate up to 370 passengers. The Il-96-400M’s passenger cabin comes with a contemporary multimedia system that offers Internet access, television and satellite communications, and contemporary kitchen appliances. It can be configured with one, two, or three classes.

In terms of reliability and flight safety, the Il-96-400M is fully consistent with its famous predecessors – the Il-86 and Il-96 aircraft, as well as with the best world models due to the redundancy of the aircraft’s systems and its aerodynamic configuration.

In 2017, the Russian Government injected ₽3.6 billion ($57.4 million) into the Ilyushin Il-96-400M. It has a cruising range of over 8,000 km and it will compete with the Airbus A350-1000 and Boeing 777-9.

“The new modernized version of the Il-96 will complement UAC’s civil aircraft lineup in the wide-body passenger segment and will allow us to offer the market, along with the MC-21-310, SJ-100, and Tu-214, aircraft of various sizes and ranges that are capable of providing route network throughout the country and replace foreign analogs.
