Tata-Safran Launch LEAP Engine Manufacturing Unit in Hyderabad
Tata Advanced Systems and Safran launch a cutting-edge LEAP engine components unit in Hyderabad, strengthening India’s aerospace.
As India continues to advance its Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliance) vision, Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and Safran Aircraft Engines have taken a major step forward in strengthening the country’s aerospace manufacturing capabilities.
On Tuesday, the two companies inaugurated a state-of-the-art rotating parts manufacturing facility for the LEAP engine at Adibatla, on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
A World-Class Facility for Next-Generation Engines
The newly inaugurated plant, located at the Tata Centre of Excellence for Aero Engines, is designed to produce complex rotating parts for CFM International’s LEAP engines — one of the most advanced turbofan engines powering new-generation commercial aircraft.
The facility brings advanced machining, precision engineering, and special manufacturing processes under one roof, setting a new benchmark for India’s indigenous aerospace production ecosystem.
Inauguration Marks a Proud Partnership
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, alongside senior executives from Tata Advanced Systems, Safran, and other government officials.
India’s Expanding Role in Global Aviation
India today stands as the third-largest operator of LEAP engines globally, with nearly 75% of the country’s commercial aircraft powered by CFM’s advanced turbofan technology.
To date, Indian airlines have ordered over 2,000 LEAP engines, reflecting the exponential growth of the aviation sector and the increasing demand for local manufacturing and maintenance capabilities.
By establishing this high-precision component facility, TASL and Safran are positioning India as a key hub in the global LEAP engine supply chain, contributing not only to domestic needs but also to international markets.
Boosting Atmanirbhar Bharat and Aerospace Innovation
This new facility represents more than just an industrial milestone—it’s a symbol of India’s growing engineering expertise and technological self-sufficiency in aerospace.
Through this partnership, Tata Advanced Systems and Safran are empowering India’s manufacturing sector with world-class capabilities, creating high-skilled employment opportunities, and further cementing the nation’s status as a global aviation manufacturing powerhouse.
A Leap Forward for Indian Aviation
With this development, Hyderabad continues to reinforce its position as India’s premier aerospace and defense manufacturing hub. The TASL–Safran venture marks a bold stride in realizing India’s long-term vision of building, designing, and sustaining advanced aircraft technologies within the country — truly making it a “LEAP” forward in India’s aviation story.
