Rocking the Skies: A Retired Boeing 737-800 aircraft Soars as Rock Concert Stage

Rocking the Skies: A Retired Boeing 737-800 aircraft Soars as Rock Concert Stage

On September 16, 2023, aviation enthusiasts and music lovers in California had a unique and unforgettable experience as they gathered at San Bernardino Airport (SBD) to celebrate the airport’s first anniversary of opening to commercial flights.

The highlight of this special event was the transformation of a retired Boeing 737-800 into a one-of-a-kind concert platform.

The unique music stage that was created out of a retired  Boeing 737-800 airplane made this celebration stand out. A stage fit for a rock performer had been cut out of the middle of the plane’s cabin, which was now parked on the airport’s tarmac.

The adventurous journey that people took to get to the performance location, however, was what distinguished this event from a typical concert. They made the bold decision to use an emergency slide that dropped into the tarmac instead of the more traditional approach, which gave their entrance an exciting twist.

To provide a sense of adventure, this slide had been carefully repurposed; it had been taken out of a Boeing 757 and meticulously stored for this specific event. The plane’s transformation into a stage symbolized not only the airport’s evolution but also the resilience of aviation itself, bridging the gap between its past and present.

Surprisingly, this wasn’t the first time this aircraft had been used as a platform for a concert. The exact same airport had previously had a strikingly identical celebration for Breeze Airways’ service debut in July 2022.
