“Qantas Expands its Wings: Direct Flights from Perth to Rome Reintroduced for European Summer”
Qantas has reintroduced seasonal flights from Perth to Rome, bringing the popular route back for the second year in a row, just in time for the European summer.
The airline’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft will fly the flights three days a week until October 3 of 2023, providing more than 22,000 seats between Australia and Italy during a four-month period. The route remains the only direct flight between Australia and continental Europe offered by any airline.
The national carrier has also confirmed it will operate the service for a third year, with flights for 2024 to go on sale in early July. Customers flying Business class from Rome to Perth will get limited-edition Qantas amenity kits showcasing the artwork of Western Australian Wongi artist Kevin Wilson, created in collaboration with Tourism Western Australia.
The resumption of seasonal services to Rome coincides with Qantas’s return to more of the locations it served before to COVID, which was made possible by the recent arrival of new 787 aircraft. With the introduction of maiden flights from Sydney via Auckland this week, Qantas visited New York for the first time in more than three years. The airline also visited San Francisco last month. The next week, new flights between Melbourne and Hong Kong will start.
