Lufthansa Airbus A380s will be reactivated between 2024 and 2025
A significant surge in passenger demand has led Lufthansa to decide to restart its fleet of eight Airbus A380s. The airline will be able to add capacity to several of its busiest routes mainly to the reintegration of the superjumbos.

The A380 is a highly well-liked aircraft among passengers and crews, an airline official told the German news outlet AeroTelegraph. The hub for the eight superjumbos will be in Munich, and all eight are anticipated to make a return between 2024 and 2025.
The reintroduction of superjumbos into the fleet is critical to meeting the current demand for travelers due to a jet shortage. The airline has also had delays in incorporating new aircraft such as the Boeing 777X and Boeing 787, which have impacted its schedule. During a financial results presentation in March 2023, Lufthansa confirmed that six Airbus A380s would be active in the fleet by 2024. Six A388s, on the other hand, were sold to Airbus for a total book value of 287 million euros (312 million USD).

As of the summer of 2023, Lufthansa has retrofitted its Airbus A380s. Six of these jets were originally intended to be returned, but that number has since been extended to a maximum of eight jets. A further jet should enter service soon, followed by four more by 2024. Currently, three jets are in use.
