An important milestone is reached with China’s delivery of the first mid-range commercial aircraft. On Friday, China Eastern Airlines received the first C919 large passenger aircraft from the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC).
The first jet-type trunk liner that China independently designed in conformity with international airworthiness standards and that is protected by independent intellectual property rights is the C919 aircraft. A C919 aircraft’s seating configuration is from 158 to 192, and its range is 4,075 to 5,555 kilometers.
The program is now entering the engineering development phase after completing the project demonstration, feasibility study, and pre-development phases. On November 2nd, 2015, the first aircraft took off. The C919 had its first test flight on May 5th, 2017. C919 aircraft obtained Type Certificate from Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) on September 29th, 2022.
