DAE orders 15 Boeing 737 MAX Jets
Boeing and Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) announced today that the aircraft lessor will add 15 Boeing 737 MAX jets to its MAX fleet. DAE had been putting money into the 737 MAX by purchasing planes from current customers and leasing them back to the airlines. As it modernizes its portfolio for better economic and environmental efficiency, DAE has placed its first direct 737 MAX order with Boeing.
Firoz Tarapore, Chief Executive Officer of DAE, said: “We are delighted to deepen our already strong relationship with Boeing. Including this order, we own and manage 162 Boeing aircraft. An increasing number of global aviation regulators are returning the MAX to the skies. We are confident in the success of these aircraft as domestic and regional air travel are seeing strong signs of recovery.”
DAE’s latest 737 MAX investment is the company’s second in the last year. The lessor signed an agreement with American Airlines to purchase and leaseback 18 new 737-8 planes in the third quarter of 2020. The lessor has delivered 17 of the jets to the US carrier since the agreement was signed. DAE previously completed a purchase-leaseback agreement for five 737-8s with Brazilian carrier GOL.

Why Boeing 737 MAX?
The 737-8 is a member of the 737 MAX family, which uses 16 percent less fuel and emits significantly less per seat than the planes it replaces thanks to new, more fuel-efficient engines and improved aerodynamics. The jet can carry 178 passengers in a two-class configuration and has a range of 3,550 nautical miles (6570 kilometers), which is around 600 kilometers longer than its predecessor. Passengers will benefit from the inclusion of this capacity because airlines will be able to provide new and more convenient routes. The new Boeing Sky Interior will be featured on every aircraft, with sleek sculpted sidewalls and window reveals, LED lighting that adds to the sense of spaciousness, and larger pivoting overhead storage bins.
