In order to grow the American Airlines Cadet Academy for aspiring pilots, American Airlines and Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology have announced a new partnership. The first college partner of the Cadet Academy, Spartan, based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, expands its training network to five locations and offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in Aviation Flight.

American Airlines cadets have the chance to earn their FAA certificates and ratings through this new partnership with Spartan College, as well as their Associate of Applied Science degree. Reduced ATP hours, housing options, and financial aid are all available to help students in the Spartan College Aviation Flight programme finish in as little as 17 months. A bachelor’s degree in technology management from Spartan is also an option for certified flight instructors.

Nearly 700 cadets have joined the Cadet Academy since its start in 2018, and more than 100 have already completed the course of study.

A special financial arrangement with the American Airlines Cadet Academy is intended to assist cadets who are beginning the programme. The objective is to remove the financial obstacles that potential pilots must overcome, to support the expansion of the pilot population, and to increase diversity among the ranks of both current and future pilots.

An American Airlines pilot mentor will be paired with each Cadet Academy student to help them navigate the experience. In addition, eligible cadets can apply for loans through the Cadet Loan Program of American Airlines Federal Credit Union to help pay for their training expenses. Graduates will be offered an interview by American’s three wholly owned regional airlines, Envoy, Piedmont, and PSA, after completing the necessary flight hours. Cadets have a good chance of working for American Airlines if hired by one of these regional airlines.
