The memorandum of agreement enables continuing engagement with American’s team of aviation maintenance specialists, allows access to American’s maintenance facilities, and ensures that top applicants from AIM’s Chicago campus will be given interviews at American. In order to help them launch their careers successfully, eligible students will also be given financial aid for certification examinations and toolkits.
AIM’s 21-month programme now has about 4,000 students working toward qualifications to become aviation mechanics. AIM is the largest provider of aviation maintenance training in the US, with 14 FAA-approved schools spread across the nation.
Joel English, executive vice president for AIM, said, “We are happy to be extending our connection with American Airlines and offering a direct pathway to employment for our students. Our mission is to help our students move into their personal and professional lives and to meet the workforce needs of the aviation industry. For us and our students, this direct connection with American Airlines represents a huge step forward.
The partnership also provides American Airlines team members who are interested in becoming aviation maintenance professionals with reduced tuition rates and a waved application fee at AIM’s 14 campuses across the United States.
