Airbus Partners with Swiss, THAI, and China Airlines for Fleet Enhancements

Airbus has recently secured three new retrofit agreements, aimed at enhancing passenger experience and comfort across various airlines.

Swiss International Air Lines, THAI Airways International, and China Airlines are set to benefit from these upgrades, covering a range of aircraft models, including the A320 family and A350s. The retrofit with Swiss involves outfitting the in-service fleet of A320 family aircraft with Airspace L-Bins, manufactured by EFW.

These innovative bins will provide customers with 60% more capacity for storing hand luggage, addressing a common challenge for passengers. The retrofit will include three Swiss A320s and five A321s, offering increased convenience for travelers.

THAI Airways International has also partnered with Airbus for its cabin retrofit program, marking Airbus’ first-ever cabin retrofit for a single-aisle fleet in the Asia-Pacific region. Airbus Services will oversee the installation of reclining business class seats on THAI’s fleet of 20 A320ceo aircraft. These seats, featuring an eight-inch recline, aim to enhance passenger comfort and align with THAI’s commitment to elevating the travel experience for its customers.

In addition, Airbus has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Taiwan’s China Airlines to retrofit the airline’s A350 cabins with a new layout and state-of-the-art amenities. Airbus Services will manage the installation of China Airlines’ latest Premium Business Class, Premium Economy Class, and Economy Class seats on its fleet of 15 A350-900s. Passengers can expect a premium travel experience, with upgrades to seating, in-flight entertainment systems, and overall cabin environment, enhancing the competitiveness of China Airlines through superior service and comfort.

These retrofit agreements underscore Airbus’ commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, as airlines strive to deliver exceptional experiences to their passengers.

Air India Rolls Out A350s for Delhi-New York JFK and Newark Routes

In a major development for North American travelers, Air India has announced the deployment of its state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900 aircraft on two key routes: Delhi to New York and Delhi to Newark.

The service on the Delhi-New York route will commence on November 1, 2024, while the Delhi-Newark route will see its inaugural flight on January 2, 2025.

The A350’s Business class will set new standards with 28 private suites, each equipped with full-flat beds, direct aisle access, and personal wardrobes. Economy class will be configured to accommodate 264 passengers in a 3-4-3 layout. Across all cabins, passengers will enjoy the latest Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment system, offering over 2,200 hours of content.

This strategic deployment marks a notable enhancement in Air India’s U.S. operations, with 60% of its flights to the U.S. now featuring new or upgraded cabin interiors.
