Airbus delays entry date for the Airbus A350 freighter
The first delivery of the brand-new A350 freighter has been delayed until 2026, according to Airbus’ earnings announcement on Wednesday.
“We are in the execution of the programme, we are in the development phase, we are starting initialization of the product, so we are updating constantly the planning and what we have said today reflects a slight slippage of the overall planning,” said Xavier Tardy, the interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Airbus, during the company’s Q1 2023 results presentation.
However, Tardy insisted that there would be no alteration “in the thinking of the programme, just that the entry into service is now slightly pushed into the beginning of 2026”.
Airbus is still convinced that it will reach the ramp-up goals, which call for 65 A320neo family aircraft each month by the end of 2024 and 75 by 2026. The A220 will go to fourteen a month by the middle of the decade, the A330 to four a month in 2024, and the A350 to nine a month by the end of 2025.
