Air India to explore 32 US destinations with Alaska Airlines
As per a report on CNBC TV18, Alaska Airlines (AS) and Air India, which is owned by Tata, have established an interline cooperation that will facilitate seamless connections for Air India passengers to and from 32 destinations in the US, Mexico, and Canada.
New York JFK, Newark, New Jersey, Washington, DC, Chicago, San Francisco, Vancouver, and more well-known places are part of Alaska Airlines‘ network.
The agreement covers bilateral interlining, which permits both airlines to provide tickets for travel on each other’s networks.
In addition, the two airlines have reached a Special Prorate Agreement, according to which Air India is permitted to provide “through fares” for routes that pass via Alaska Airlines’ network. A through fare is the price paid to go from the place of boarding to a location that is not currently served by the route.
Currently, Air India flies to five major US destinations (New York, Newark, Washington DC, Chicago, and San Francisco) with 47 nonstop flights each week from Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.
