In the vast expanse of North America, a network of bustling airports serves as vital gateways to the continent’s diverse destinations, connecting millions of passengers and facilitating the flow of goods. As of the latest OAG data, these airports stand as pivotal hubs, reflecting the dynamic nature of air travel in the region.
Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) claims the top spot as the busiest airport, boasting a total of 61,226,507 seats. However, despite its preeminence, ATL has experienced a marginal decrease of 3% in seats since 2019.
Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) secures the second position with 48,083,921 seats, showcasing a notable growth of 10% from 2019 and a steady increase of 11% since 2022. Denver International Airport (DEN) follows closely in the third position, witnessing a substantial 17% growth in seats.
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) hold the fourth and fifth positions, respectively. LAX, with 44,482,633 seats, has seen a decline of 14% since 2019 and a modest increase of 11% since 2022. Similarly, ORD, with 43,708,796 seats, has experienced a 14% reduction in seats since 2019 and a more moderate 6% increase from 2022.
Miami International Airport (MIA) rounds out the top 10, boasting 30,175,956 seats. Air India Express Aircraft Engine Part Falls Outside Delhi Airport; DGCA Orders Probe
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched an inquiry following reports that metal fragments were discovered at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport after an Air India Express flight made an emergency landing on Monday evening.
The emergency landing was prompted by a detected engine fault, but fortunately, the landing was executed safely without any injuries to the passengers.
The situation began when crew members of the Air India Express flight reported an engine issue, leading to the emergency landing. The DGCA has confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway and has directed that the aircraft undergo a comprehensive safety inspection.

The discovery of metal debris outside the airport has raised concerns, prompting the DGCA to probe whether these fragments are linked to the aircraft involved in the emergency landing. Authorities are particularly focused on whether the metal pieces, which were found near the airport, originated from the same Air India Express flight that experienced engine trouble.
While preliminary assessments suggest that the debris could be a broken blade from an aircraft engine, the exact source remains unconfirmed. The airline has yet to verify if the metal fragments are from their aircraft.
