SWISS is once again offering in-flight shopping. Duty Free on board had been interrupted for two and a half years due to the coronavirus pandemic. It is now possible to pay for in-flight purchases with award miles. The new assortment focuses on travel items, sustainability and Swiss products.
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is resuming Duty Free Shopping from November 1 , 2022. The same applies to payment for the SWISS Saveurs catering offer . In addition, purchases made on board with the credit card are now entitled to Miles & More award miles.
“The resumption of the Duty-Free offer is an important step towards the return to our global premium service”, explains Tamur Goudarzi Pour, Chief Commercial Officer of SWISS. “After a hiatus of two and a half years, I am very pleased that we can now offer our passengers onboard shopping, offering them an even more varied and personalized experience. And the digital payment is now further simplified by the possible use of award miles”.
Focus on travel goods, sustainability and Swiss products
The recomposed Duty-Free assortment emphasizes three points: travel goods, sustainability, and Swiss products. Apart from the great high-end classics, such as watches and sunglasses, the offer now includes, for example, a tin box containing a selection of chocolate specialties, a deodorant packaged in a bioplastic tube made from sugar cane, or children’s headphones inspired by endangered animal species from around the world. PIA Reinstates Manchester and Paris Routes After EU Ban Lift
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced plans to resume flights to Europe starting in January, beginning with Paris as its first destination.
The decision follows the European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s (EASA) removal of a long-standing ban on the airline. PIA’s inaugural flight to Paris is scheduled for January 10, with bookings opening on December 9.
DOT Proposes New Passenger Compensation Rules for Flight Disruptions
In an official statement, PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan confirmed that the first flight schedule has been approved, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s recovery efforts. The EU ban had previously cost PIA approximately Rs40 billion ($144 million) annually in lost revenue, compounding its financial struggles.
With European operations restarting, PIA is now setting its sights on the United Kingdom. The airline plans to seek approval from the UK Department for Transport (DfT) to resume flights to major British cities such as London, Manchester, and Birmingham.
