Swiss airline cabin crew filmed dancing on aircraft wing

Earlier this month, while Swiss International Air Lines staff members passed the time before leaving Buenos Aires, they were captured on camera irresponsibly dancing and posing on the wing of a Boeing 777 just before the enormous aircraft took off for Zurich. Action will be taken against the cabin workers.

In the popular video, a single female flight attendant can be seen dancing on the wing before being joined by a male coworker. Then another man, who is thought to be a senior cabin chief, emerges and strikes some muscular poses. Swiss International Air Lines officials were outraged by the footage.

Michael Pelzer, a spokesman for the airline, said: “What appears to be amusing in the video is actually dangerous. The Boeing 777‘s wings are approximately five meters (16.4 feet) high. It could be disastrous to fall from that height onto the hard pavement. This behavior won’t be tolerated.

Mr. Pelzer emphasized that only emergency situations, including as passenger evacuation, would allow crew members to climb onto the wings. He declared: “The actions of the personnel in the video neither complies with our security criteria nor exhibits the high degree of professionalism of our staff.

“In this instance, specific crew members failed to serve as positive role models. That’s not something we can support. The jet, which was presumably waiting for its takeoff slot for a journey to Zurich, was not believed to be carrying any passengers. Pelzer clarified, though, “We have binding guidelines regarding the online presence of our employees.

Swiss International Air Lines’ Martin Knuchel, vice president and head of flight attendants, criticized the actions of his staff in the video but predicted that the airline would only take disciplinary action and conduct an internal investigation.
