STARLUX Strengthens Cargo Fleet with Major Airbus Order

STARLUX Airlines of Taiwan is taking a significant step to strengthen its cargo operations by placing an order for five more Airbus A350F freighters.

This new order doubles their initial commitment from last year, showcasing the airline’s ambition to expand its cargo services on some of the world’s busiest freight routes. The A350F freighters will be operated by STARLUX Cargo and will complement the airline’s current fleet of 26 Airbus aircraft, which includes the A321neo, A330neo, and A350-900.

By adding these cutting-edge a350 freighter, STARLUX is gearing up to enhance its capacity and reliability in the global air cargo market.

The Airbus A350F, currently under development, is designed to set new standards in the cargo industry. It can carry a payload of up to 111 tonnes and fly distances of up to 4,700 nautical miles (8,700 kilometers).

Equipped with the latest Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, the aircraft delivers up to 40% lower fuel consumption and carbon emissions compared to older cargo planes with similar capabilities.

One of the standout features of the A350F is its large main deck cargo door, the biggest in the industry, which makes loading and unloading more efficient. Over 70% of the airframe is made from advanced materials, reducing the aircraft’s take-off weight by 46 tonnes compared to its closest competitor.

The A350F is also the only freighter designed to fully meet ICAO’s stricter CO₂ emissions standards coming into effect in 2027.

As of November 2024, the Airbus a350 aircraft family has secured 1,345 orders from 61 customers worldwide, with 55 orders specifically for the A350F from 10 leading cargo operators. STARLUX’s decision to double its A350F order reflects its confidence in this next-generation freighter to support its growing operations and sustainability goals.
