Japan Airlines Inflight Compensation Voucher For Defective Seat
One of the passengers recently had a frustrating experience, with Japan Airlines during a Business Class flight from Seattle to Tokyo and then on to Bangkok. The issue that he was encountered that his seat wouldn’t automatically adjust to the sleeping position, requiring manual adjustments each time and he wanted to rest.
While such mechanical problems are not uncommon, they can still be quite bothersome, especially when flying in the newer generations of seats with more integrated features. However, the airline staff was responsive and promptly addressed the issue by manually adjusting his seat whenever he needed to sleep.

To his surprise, towards the end of the flight, the purser handed him a certificate that allowed him to choose from a range of compensation options. Since he is not an active collector of Japan Airlines miles, opting for mileage compensation he said didn’t make much sense to me. It would have required him to supplement his balance with Marriott points to reach the desired mileage level.
Similarly, JAL Vouchers didn’t appeal to him, so he ultimately decided to go with the Visa gift card option. He received a letter containing the gift card within 10 business days at his address in Thailand. The card is a VANILLA Visa Gift Card, which can also be obtained at Japanese convenience stores. However, it should be noted that this card requires swiping and doesn’t have a chip or tap function.

Interestingly, the compensation letter did not mention the specific amount of compensation. To find out the current balance, He had to sign into the website and enter the card details. The balance displayed on the website showed 20,000 Yen, which is generous compensation that he can use towards his next Japan trip.
To ensure that the gift card was functioning properly, he tested it at a supermarket self-checkout in Bangkok, and it worked without any issues. Overall, he was satisfied with the compensation provided by Japan Airlines and wanted to share his experience.

Air India Express Aircraft Engine Part Falls Outside Delhi Airport; DGCA Orders Probe
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched an inquiry following reports that metal fragments were discovered at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport after an Air India Express flight made an emergency landing on Monday evening.
The emergency landing was prompted by a detected engine fault, but fortunately, the landing was executed safely without any injuries to the passengers.
The situation began when crew members of the Air India Express flight reported an engine issue, leading to the emergency landing. The DGCA has confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway and has directed that the aircraft undergo a comprehensive safety inspection.

The discovery of metal debris outside the airport has raised concerns, prompting the DGCA to probe whether these fragments are linked to the aircraft involved in the emergency landing. Authorities are particularly focused on whether the metal pieces, which were found near the airport, originated from the same Air India Express flight that experienced engine trouble.
While preliminary assessments suggest that the debris could be a broken blade from an aircraft engine, the exact source remains unconfirmed. The airline has yet to verify if the metal fragments are from their aircraft.
