American Airlines pilots to get 21% pay raise this year
After lengthy discussions with the biggest U.S. airline, American Airlines pilots have reached an agreement in principle on a new contract that will increase their pay by 21% in 2023, according to a report on Friday.

The Allied Pilots Association (APA), which represents over 13,000 pilots at Texas-based American, announced on Friday that it will proceed with finalizing the contract’s language before submitting it to its board for approval.

Pilots would also receive a 3% rise when the proposed contract becomes amendable in 2027, according to the report, who spoke on the condition of anonymity since the specifics are not yet public.
American’s contract includes schedule enhancements, which they say are crucial for pilots seeking a better work-life balance in a job that frequently requires them to be away from their families for days at a time.
